Acquiring durable medical equipment through insurance is a multi-step process. The process can vary, depending upon the type of equipment issued and the patient’s primary insurer. Different documentation is also required depending upon the equipment prescribed. In all cases, the patient must meet the required insurance criteria to receive the prescribed equipment. Note that some equipment/products are not covered by insurance.
The Med City Mobility SMART CHART identifies and directs you to the processes, eligibility criteria and documentation necessary for equipment covered by insurance. Much of this information can be printed and taken to the physician as a resource in determining the patient’s eligibility for an insurance submission.
